A Guide to Private (Invite-Only) Sharing for Exclusive Content

Beyond the Password: Mastering Private (Invite-Only) Sharing

You've created an exclusive document—a tailored proposal for a single client, a draft for a specific collaborator, or a premium guide for a paying customer. You need to share it, but you need to be certain that only that specific person can ever see it.

While a password is a great tool for sharing with a group, it has a limitation: the password itself can be shared. For true person-by-person control, you need to tie access not to a piece of information, but to an individual's account.

This is why we built Private (Invite-Only) Sharing, Fflipp's most controlled access feature, available on our Business plan. This guide will show you how to use it to deliver a truly exclusive viewing experience.

How Does Private Sharing Work?

Unlike other sharing methods, Private Sharing completely ignores who has the link. Instead, it checks one simple thing when someone tries to view it: "Is the currently logged-in user on my approved list?"

Access is tied directly to a user's Fflipp account. Even if the link to your private flipbook is shared, no one will be able to see it except the specific people you have personally invited.

Password vs. Private: Choosing the Right Tool

This is a crucial distinction for managing your audience.

  • A Password is like a ticket to an event. Anyone who has the ticket can get in. It's perfect for granting access to a group.
  • Private Sharing is like a personal invitation with a name on it. Only the invited guest can attend. It's designed for granting access to specific individuals.

Use Passwords for one-to-many sharing (your team, your workshop attendees). Use Private Sharing for one-to-one sharing (a single client, a specific collaborator).

A Step-by-Step Guide to Using Private Sharing

Setting up an Invite-Only flipbook is a quick process in the Advanced Editor.

Step 1: Set Your Flipbook to "Private"

In the Advanced Editor, navigate to the "Privacy & Access" tab. Simply select the "Private (Invite-Only)" radio button and save. From this moment, your flipbook is private and cannot be viewed by anyone until you start inviting people.

Step 2: Invite Your Viewers

Once your flipbook is set to Private, the "Invitation Manager" becomes active. To grant access, enter the email address of the person you want to invite and click "Grant Access."

Important: The user you invite must have a Fflipp account (even a Free one) registered with that email address. This is how our system verifies their identity when they log in.

Step 3: Manage Your Access List

Below the invitation form, you will see a clean list of every user who currently has access. If you need to remove someone—for example, after a project is complete—simply click the "Revoke" button next to their name. Their access will be instantly removed.

Who is Invite-Only Sharing For?

Private (Invite-Only) sharing is a premium feature designed for creators and businesses who need to deliver a personalized and controlled viewing experience. It's the perfect solution when you need to manage access on a person-by-person basis.

  • Exclusive Proposals & Quotes: Impress a single, high-value client with a proposal made just for them.
  • Client Previews & Drafts: Share design proofs or project updates with your clients for their eyes only, creating a professional approval process.
  • Collaborator Access: Share a work-in-progress with a specific partner or team member for feedback.
  • Premium Content for Individuals: If you sell high-value digital products, you can grant access to individual customers after purchase.
  • Personal Projects: Share a family photo album or personal journal with only your closest friends and family.

When you need absolute control over your audience, Private (Invite-Only) Sharing provides the confidence you need. This powerful audience management feature is available as part of our comprehensive Business plan.
