How to Add Clickable Links to Your Flipbook (Step-by-Step Guide)

Is your flipbook just a document, or is it an interactive gateway? One of the most powerful ways to increase engagement and drive traffic from your content is by adding clickable link hotspots. This feature transforms your flipbook from a simple reader into an active hub that connects your audience to your website, online store, or social media profiles.

This beginner-friendly guide will show you exactly how to add, position, and customize these powerful links. If you can draw a box and copy-paste a URL, you have all the skills you need!

What is a Link Hotspot?

A link hotspot is an invisible, clickable area that you can draw anywhere on your flipbook page. When a reader clicks this area, they are instantly taken to the URL you've specified. It's the perfect tool for turning a static page into a dynamic experience.

Why You Should Use Link Hotspots

  • Digital Catalogs: Link every product image directly to its purchase page.
  • Portfolios: Link from your work to your main website or contact page.
  • Reports & Brochures: Link to source data, further reading, or your company's social media.
  • Any Document: Drive traffic anywhere you want your readers to go next!

How to Add Your First Link Hotspot: A Step-by-Step Guide

Adding a link is a simple process. Here’s how to do it in the Fflipp editor.

Step 1: Open the Advanced Editor

From your dashboard, find the flipbook you want to edit and click the "Edit" button. From the main editor, navigate to the "Advanced Features" editor to access the hotspot tools.

Step 2: Add a New Link Hotspot

In the "Hotspots" tab of the advanced editor, you'll find the "Manage Link Hotspots" section. Simply enter the page number you want to add the link to, paste your URL, and click "Add Link".

Step 3: Position and Resize Your Hotspot

After adding the link, you'll be taken to the visual hotspot editor. Here, you can:

  • Drag the hotspot to place it exactly where you want it on the page.
  • Drag the corners to resize the clickable area to perfectly cover an image, a button, or a block of text.
  • Add Tooltip Text: This is the small text that pops up when a reader hovers over the link (e.g., "Visit Our Website!").

Once you're happy with the position and size, just click "Save" and you're done!

Pro Tips: Linking to Email and Phone

Don't just link to websites! You can make your flipbooks even more useful by creating links that open a user's email client or phone dialer.

How to Create an Email Link (mailto:)

To create a link that opens a new email draft, simply use the mailto: prefix in the URL field:

mailto:support@fflipp.com

When a user clicks this, it will open their default email app with the "To" address already filled out.

How to Create a Phone Link (tel:)

To create a link that prompts a user to call a phone number (especially useful on mobile), use the tel: prefix:

tel:+1-555-123-4567

On a smartphone, clicking this will open the phone's dialer with the number ready to be called.
